The Book Collection

The METU Library holds nearly 400,000 volumes in its collection. Materials held by the Library are accessible via the library catalog. The library materials are mostly classified according to the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System. In the system, disciplines of knowledge are broken down into classes, divisions, and subdivisions, using a combination of letters and numbers. Alphabetical symbols refer to the broad classes, and the numerical sequence refers to subdivisions.

Scientific and technical books are found on the second floor. This section includes science, mathematics & computer science, astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology, biology, medicine, agriculture, technology, military science, naval science, library science & bibliographies, and the like.

Books about social sciences, arts & humanities are found on the third floor. This section includes social sciences, statistics, economics, commerce, finance, sociology, political science, law, general works, philosophy, psychology, religion, history, geography, anthropology, recreation & sports, education, fine arts, language & literature, and the like.

World Bank Books

Our Library has added a valuable resource to its collection of World Bank books . These books can be located via our online catalog.

How to find books

Go to the Library Catalogue.
Choose one of the "Title, Author, Subject, Keyword or Call Number" options in the menu.
Write the terms in the search box.
Click on the Submit button.
Click on the title links when search results appear on the screen.
Please check the “Location” and the “Status” fields.
If you see “AVAILABLE” in the “Status” field, make a note of the call number and the location then go to the shelves.
If you see “DUE” in the “Status” field, it means that the material has been borrowed. In this case, you can place a hold on it. To place a hold on a book, click on the Request button, write the information required then click on the Submit button.

How to find conference papers

Go to the Library Catalogue.
Choose the “Title” option.
Write the conference name.
Click on the Submit button.
Please check the “Location” and the “Status” fields.
If you see “AVAILABLE” in the “Status” field, make a note of the call number and the location, then go to the shelves.
If you see “DUE” in the “Status” field, it means that the material has been borrowed. In this case, you can place a hold on it.
