The Reserve (Short Loan) Collection contains course books which are in heavy demand. There are also course notes, daily newspapers etc. The reserve collection can be searched by lecturer name or by course code via the online library catalogue. These materials can only be borrowed for a short period.
How to find textbooks
Reserve Information for Faculty
Materials which may be placed on reserve:
- Library books.
- Personal books.
- Other materials - videos/DVDs, CD-ROMs, etc.
Materials which may not be placed on reserve:
- Current and bound periodical volumes.
- Items from the reference collection.
- Non-circulating materials from the general collection.
- Materials received through Interlibrary Loan.
Using the Reserve
- Only faculty members and graduate teaching assistants (hereafter referred to as instructors) may request that an item be placed on reserve.
- Instructors are to use
the Adding Or Remowing Items to/from Reserve Collection form to place an item on reserve. Copiers of these forms are available at both the Circulation and Reserve Desks.
- Overdue Fines will be assessed at 50 Kr per hour or 12 TL a day for overnight with no grace period.
- Academic/ administrative staff and students can borrow materials from the Short Loan Section according to the type and the loan period of the source.
- At the end of each term, statistics on the use of Reserve materials, by course, are sent to faculty. Items which have circulated less than five times are automatically removed from the reserve list for the next term.
- Reserve items are in high demand; therefore there is a limit of 2 items per borrower.
- Renewals are not permitted on items in the reserve collection.
- All borrowers are responsible for fees associated with lost or damaged materials as outlined in section 5 of the METU Library Policy Manual.
Loans
- Type A for two hours and overnight after 16:00.
- Type B for two hours.
- Type C for three days.
- Type D for a week.
Removing Items from Reserve
- All items are removed from reserve at the end of each quarter.
- All library-owned items are automatically returned to the library circulating collections.
- The instructor may remove items at any time in person by e-mail or telephone. (+90.312.2102784 or +90.312.2102768).

Note: If students fail to pay their fines, their marks and transcripts will be withheld and they will be prevented from registering in future courses until the fines are paid in full. In the case of faculty, borrowing privileges may be suspended.

- All METU faculty, staff and students are eligible to borrow books from the Reserve Section according to the type and the loan period of the source.
- All users must present a METU ID card, with current year validation, in order to borrow books.
- Reserve items are in high demand; therefore, there is a limit of 2 items per borrower.
- Renewals are not permitted on items in the Reserve Collection.
